The Fundamentals of Diagnosing and Treating Tick-Borne Illness
Objective

This course targets medical professionals who are new to treating patients with tick-borne infections, or would like a refresher course on the fundamentals of diagnosis and treatment. This course is also an excellent primer for nurse practitioners and physician assistants who are practicing in the offices of Lyme literate physicians.

Conference Description and Goals

  • To learn the history and evolution of Lyme disease
  • To learn the myriad clinical presentations of Lyme disease and associated co-infections
  • To learn how to properly choose and evaluate laboratory tests in tick-borne infections
  • To learn appropriate treatment strategies for acute and chronic Lyme disease and associated co-infections
  • To learn the medical literature that establishes an evidence based medical practice in the treatment of tick-borne infections

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Medical Society of the State of New York (MSSNY) through the joint sponsorship of Westchester Academy of Medicine and International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society. The Westchester Academy of Medicine is accredited by MSSNY to provide continuing Medical Education for physicians.

The Westchester Academy of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 8.50 AMA PRA Category I Credits TM. Physicians should only claim the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Target Audience

MD, DO, ND, DMD, DVM, PhD, RN, NP, PA, DC, LCSW and select alternative medicine providers. Lyme advocacy members will be encouraged as space permits. Student Physicians, residents, or interns may register at a discounted rate.

Lyme Disease Conference Program

The 2015 ILADS Lyme Disease Fundamentals is a one day intensive course. It features internationally known experts in the field. The meeting features dinner speakers on Friday night who are reknown tick experts based in Alberta. Saturday's agenda is a practical instructional course.
