ILADEF invites you to join us for a rare opportunity to attend a prestigious charity event and engage with some of the world’s leading Lyme disease researchers and clinicians.
Come join us on Friday evening November 10th for a relaxed evening of fun with a nautical twist as we honor Robert C. Bransfield, MD, DLFAPA as the 2017 Pioneer in Lyme Awardee. The evening will consist of drinks, dinner, and surprise entertainment. Dr. Bransfield is a gentleman scholar who always puts the needs of the group ahead of self-interest. As a clinical psychiatrist Dr. Bransfield has opened doors to renewed life, showing compassion and open mindedness for those patients who had previously only seen closed doors.
Pat Smith, ILADS member and the Lyme Disease Association President, says, “Bob Bransfield has furthered the efforts of the Lyme community through his work with various psychiatric organizations by providing programs on Lyme disease at psychiatry meetings for professionals, at grand rounds, and at CME conferences including those of ILADS and Lyme Disease Association-Columbia University. He often provides talks to the general public for mental health groups, Lyme organizations, is a Scientific Advisor for the Lyme Disease Association, and he hosts an on-line discussion group which provides a platform for both professionals and non-professionals who exchange ideas about Lyme disease and actions that can be taken to better the lives of patients and treating physicians. His latest paper on Suicide and Lyme and Associated Diseases fills a much needed niche on a topic that few have the knowledge and experience to discuss. He is respected by his peers, advocates, and patients for the time and energy he devotes to helping those who are sick with tick-borne diseases."
Robert C. Bransfield, MD, DLFAPA, is in the private practice of psychiatry in Red Bank, NJ, is an Associate Clinical Professor at Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine and has previously held teaching appointments at multiple medical schools. He is Past President of the New Jersey Psychiatric Association, the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society and the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Educational Foundation. Additionally, he is distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Bransfield has an interest in healthcare policy and the association between infections, psychoimmunology and mental illness. He has authored and co-authored a number of publications in peer-reviewed literature, other medical publications, and books; has appeared on network and regional television and radio.
