2017 New Perspectives on Lyme Challenges Course

Objective

To give physicians within clinical practice and patients affected by TBD increased understanding of the newest research and therapies that relate to TBD; To help participants integrate this information into their treatment strategies for their patients and for themselves; And to have transparent and evidence-based discussion regarding controversial themes surrounding tick-borne diseases.

ILADS encourages medical professionals who are new to the treatment of tick-borne diseases, or would like a refresher course on the basics of diagnosis and treatment to register for the Lyme Fundamentals Course as well as the Conference. Learn More About The Course.

Conference Description and Goals

  • Learn about new evidenced-based approaches for treating chronic Lyme disease
  • Understand the pathophysiology of Lyme and other TBDs
  • Understand the role of thyroid in the physiologic response to chronic illness particularly tick-borne disease
  • Understand the pathophysiology of cytokine cascade in the inflammatory process of tick-borne diseases and how plasmapheresis can be an important mediator of this disease process
  • Understand the use of exchange transfusions as a treatment option for blood borne illness such as babesia
  • Learn about herbal strategies for treating bacterial, viral, and fungal infections
  • Learn about herbal strategies to improve detoxification pathways
  • Learn about the emerging diagnosis of Morgellons

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Accreditation Requirements and Policies of the Medical Society of the State of New York (MSSNY) through the joint providership of the Westchester Academy of Medicine (WAM) and the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society. WAM is accredited by MSSNY to provide Continuing Medical Education for physicians.

WAM designates this live activity for a maximum of 8.0 AMA PRA Category I Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Cancellation Policy

Registration for the 2017 ILADS Conference Meetings in Boston is 100% refundable if cancelled within 24 hours of the date you registered. If cancelled by Friday, October 6, 2017, you will be refunded 80% of your registration fee. NO refunds will be made for cancellation received after October 6, 2017. A written notice of request for cancellation must be sent via email to contact@ilads.org.

ILADS reserves the right to dismiss any registrant without cause at the discretion of the Program Chair or the ILADS staff person in charge. No refunds will be given.

Confirmation

After registration and receipt of payment delegates will be sent an email confirmation, which should be printed out and brought to the conference registration desk.

Global Lyme Alliance - entire conference

  • Global Lyme Alliance has given ILADEF a grant for five physicians to attend the fall meeting. The registrant must pay the registration fee in advance. She/he will be reimbursed up to $1000 in registration fees.
  • Grantees will be required to report on the meeting. They may be asked to participate in a podcast which will highlight the material presented at the meeting.

Process for Applying/Receiving Grant:

  • Complete ILADEF MEETING GRANT Application form
  • Receive Confirmation email stating you are confirmed for the grant
  • Register and pay for the meeting
  • After attending, either present certificate of attendance or email confirmation of your attendance to dbatsuh@ilads.org
  • Receive grant for attending ILADS meeting
  • Join ILADS if you haven't already (optional)

Note: The attendee pays Registration up front. After the meeting, registrant shows proof of having attended meeting, required tax paperwork has been completed and then a check will be sent.
