Classifications
and Requirements of Membership
Applications
for membership in the Society will be submitted for review by the Credentials
Committee and approval by the Board of Directors of ILADS. In addition
to high ethical standards, members of the Society shall be either physicians
(MD or DO) or research scientists (PhD) active in the advancement of
Lyme and associated diseases or immunologic sciences and shall meet
the requirements of the Credentials Committee.
Application for Membership
All candidates
for membership shall submit a satisfactorily completed application
as provided by the Secretary of the Society.
Application fees
will be refunded if membership is not approved. Requirements for the
various classes of membership are detailed below.

the society.

Application Approval
The acceptance
of an application is subject to the criteria
of the Credentials Committee. The chairman of the Credentials Committee
shall review the application and present it to the Board of Directors. Election
of the applicant to membership shall be determined by a majority vote
of the Board of Directors. The annual dues, as appropriate to the
level of membership and as determined by the Board of Directors for
the current year, shall be due and payable within 30 days of notification
to the candidate of the election to membership.
Certificate of Membership
After attaining
membership status, each new member of the Society shall receive a Certificate
of Membership, showing the class and/or subclass of membership, and
status as a member in good standing of the Society.
Display of Certificate
The Certificate
of Membership shall be displayed only in the member's office and shall
not be used by a member as a form of advertising to the general public.
Target Members
- Clinicians
in all medical specialties
- (with an emphasis
in Family Practice, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Rheumatology,
Infectious Disease, Immunology, Neurology, and Psychiatry), who
are interested in learning about the diagnosis and treatment of
Lyme and associated diseases
- Medical
Laboratory Directors
- who are interested
in learning about the clinical indications of in-vitro diagnosis
of Lyme and associated diseases and the latest in technology assessment
for laboratory in-vitro diagnostic testing
- Laboratory
Research Scientists and Immunologists
- who are interested
in acquiring the latest information in in-vitro diagnosis or treatment
of Lyme and associated diseases
- Technologists,
Nurses, and other Allied Health Practitioners
- who wish to
learn more about in-vitro diagnosis or treatment of Lyme and associated
diseases or who wish to update their knowledge
Election of Honorary Members
Nomination for
this special status must be submitted by four voting members of the
Society and approved by a unanimous vote of the Board of Directors.
Announcement and presentation of a Certificate of Honorary Membership
shall be made at the annual meeting.
Election of Sustaining members
This status is
conferred by a unanimous vote of the Board of Directors. Announcement
and presentation of a Certificate of Sustaining Membership made at the
annual meeting.
