Vector-Borne Illness Fundamentals
The Vector-Borne Illness (VBI) Fundamentals course is a one-day track for medical professionals new to VBI diagnosis and treatment and for those veterans who want to brush up on the basics.
The VBI Fundamentals course is designed to educate medical professionals on the basics of diagnosing and treating Lyme and tick-borne diseases. The course provides specific step-by-step guidance using lectures, real-world case presentations and interactive discussions. Upon successful completion of the Vector-Borne Illness Fundamentals course and associated quiz, attendees become eligible to participate in the ILADEF Physician Training Program. Completion of the in-person course is also a pre-requisite for becoming an ILADS Lyme Fellow.
In the Physician Training Program, participants shadow a seasoned ILADEF-designated expert in her/his office (or virtually) for one to two weeks, during which time the clinician observes firsthand how doctors come up with their diagnosis and treatment plan. Additionally, clinicians observe how to handle follow-up appointments and all their complexities.
Financial Assistance
There are a number of grants available to reimburse first-time attending professionals for the VBI Fundamentals registration fee. Click here for grant information or email accounting@ILADS.org to see if you qualify.

Grand Hyatt San Antonio Riverwalk
Grand Hyatt San Antonio River Walk celebrates the history and charm of the Alamo City with a welcoming spirit and elegant sophistication. Accommodations include family-friendly hotel rooms and suites right on the River Walk in the heart of downtown San Antonio. Unwind at the rooftop pool or explore nearby attractions like the Alamodome, Frost Bank Center and The Alamo.
The ILADS room block at the Hyatt has now closed. Please contact skersh@ilads.org if you need assistance with booking at the Hyatt.
Why is it important to book your accommodation with ILADS’s contracted hotel?
- Best available rates are secured for quality rooms and ILADS has invested time and effort to negotiate the best rate available over the duration of the Convention.
- Added networking and social time with other attendees, sponsors and exhibitors is one of the key reasons why people attend conferences to meet other likeminded delegates. By staying at the Conference hotel, you enhance your opportunities to meet with colleagues and share experiences and ideas. It also ensures you don't miss out on any additional activities.
- Booking in ILADS's hotel room block not only benefits you, but it also has a significant impact on the organization. ILADS has negotiated numerous concessions and benefits with the hotel, and many are conditional and dependent on attendees staying at the Conference hotel. If we don't meet our commitment to the hotel, ILADS could be financially responsible for lost revenue owed to the hotel.
CANCELLATION POLICY
There is a 72-hour cancellation policy in place for all reservations. Failure to cancel a reservation 72 hours prior to arrival will result in a one night non-refundable guest room charge plus applicable taxes posted to the attendee’s credit card on file.
Please note that if you are solicited by an external agency offering assistance in booking your rooms you should decline the offer. ILADS does not work with outside companies to secure hotel rooms for our Conference.
ILADS San Antonio, TX 2024 Exhibitor Information
ILADS 25th Annual Scientific Conference is the premier educational event for doctors and medical professionals who have an interest in the diagnosis and treatment of Lyme and associated tick-borne diseases. This four-day conference covers a variety of topics on the fight against Lyme and associated diseases, including the fundamentals of Lyme Borreliosis, new diagnostic testing options and new treatment strategies, and new research findings. The theme of the 2024 Conference is “Redefining Lyme Disease: The Fusion of Science and Practice”. This year we will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the ILADS Scientific Conference so as they say “Everything is Bigger in Texas” so we intend to have “Bigger” stuff in store for you this year.
Don’t miss this opportunity to showcase your products, interact with medical professionals and demonstrate your support for the diagnosis and treatment of Lyme disease. We are asking all exhibitors to participate in our ILADEF Pioneer in Lyme Reception and Silent Auction. This event helps to raise much needed funds for grants for first-time conference attendees and other educational opportunities. This year we are asking each exhibitor to donate an item(s) to the silent auction. Perhaps you have gift cards for your services or merchandise or other unique items that conference attendees would like to bid on. Remember, “Everything is Bigger in Texas!” so be creative in your auction donations all while increasing your organizations exposure to conference attendees.
