Amy Offutt, MD
Dr. Offutt, president-elect of ILADS, is the medical director and co-owner of Heart & Soul Integrative Health and Yoga which she co-founded with her husband, Brad, in 2007, located in Marble Falls, Texas. Her first seven years of practice were focused on rural family medicine and obstetrics after which she transitioned to approach the treatment of chronic inflammatory diseases using integrative medicine. She completed medical school at The University ofTexas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio and completed a residency in Family Medicine at Christus Health. She has completed a fellowship with the American Academy of Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine and had a Master’s Degree in Integrative Medicine from George Washington University.
Dr. Tania Dempsey
Dr. Dempsey is Board-Certified in Internal Medicine and Integrative and Holistic Medicine. She received her MD degree from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and her BS degree from Cornell University. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at New York University Medical Center.
In 2011, she founded Armonk Integrative Medicine (AIM) which has evolved into the AIM Center for Personalized Medicine, a destination practice in Purchase, NY, focusing on complex, multi-system diseases. She is the co-author of numerous medical literature publications.
Steven Bock, MD
Steven Bock, M.D., president of ILADS, has been practicing integrative medicine for over 35 years. He attended New York Medical College and received his M.D. in 1971. He was Board Certified in Family Practice in 1977 and is certified in Acupuncture. Dr. Bock was the Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Rhinebeck Health Center. He is a Diplomate of the American College of Family Practice, a Diplomate of the American Academy of Acupuncture and a Diplomate of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. Dr. Bock’s medical practice merges traditional medicine with alternative and complementary medicine, combining the modalities of acupuncture, functional and nutritional medicine, homeopathy, herbal medicine and environmental medicine into an integrated medical model for optimal wellness.
Joseph J. Burrascano Jr., MD
Dr. Burrascano is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of Lyme and associated complex infectious diseases, and the chronic illnesses that accompany them. He is best known for his educational presentations and for his monographs on diagnostic and treatment guidelines for Lyme and related tick-borne illnesses.
Dr. Burrascano was a founding Board Member of ILADS. He also served as a Director of the ILADS Educational Foundation. A graduate of the NYU School of Medicine with a specialty in Internal Medicine, Dr. Burrascano retired from clinical practice in 2006. He currently works full time as an analyst for a private biotech company, helping to bring advanced technologies and treatments out of the lab and into general use.
David L. Kaufman, MD
With a diverse background including ME/CFS, dysautonomia, autoimmune diseases, and chronic infectious diseases including tick borne diseases, Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth Syndromes, and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, Dr. Kaufman, joins our team to bring even greater depth to the immune aspects of chronic and complex disease.
He began his Internal Medicine practice in Greenwich Village in NYC just as the epidemic that came to be known as HIV/AIDS exploded. He became deeply involved in the care of HIV positive patients and in the research aimed at discovering ways to treat both the opportunistic infections they were dying from and the virus that was causing the destruction of their immune systems.

Garth D. Ehrlich, PhD, F.A.A.A.S
Dr. Ehrlich is the Director of the Center for Advanced Microbial Processing in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Drexel University College of Medicine. His research has focused on the field of translational infectious disease medicine. Throughout his career he has developed and/or utilized cutting-edge technologies to improve patient care through more accurate diagnoses and prognoses. He has played key roles in the development of molecular diagnostics (MDx) for more than 30 years. Dr. Ehrlich has also contributed substantially to the theoretical understanding of the biology behind chronic bacterial infections as well as chronic microbial infections. This theoretical construct has been validated as useful model for the understanding of the persistence of infection in the face of both an active immune response and antimicrobial treatment.
Norton L. Fishman, MD, FACP, CNS
Norton L. Fishman, MD, FACP, CNS is a true MD (Medical Detective). He is board certified in Internal Medicine and a Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS). He has been a member of ILADS since 2005, as well as a long-term member of the AMA. After practicing in Rockville, Maryland for 25 years, he moved his practice to beautiful Charlottesville, VA in December,2018.
Dr. Fishman focuses on evaluating and treating individuals with complex, often undiagnosed, persistent conditions. While his focus is on the medical aspects of diagnosis and treatment, he integrates both nutritional and immune support methodologies in his medical practice.
Dr. Fishman expanded on his training at the University of Illinois Medical School with a residency and fellowship in Internal Medicine at the Mayo Clinic and has spent more than 50 years as a clinician in private practice. His experience includes serving as a physician in the Air Force, the Medical Director of nursing homes, as a preceptor of medical students, and until 2019, Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at the Georgetown University Medical Center. He also has been recently appointed as a Director of the Certification Board of Nutritional Specialists, the certifying arm of the American Nutrition Association as well as serving on the BCNS Exam Review Committee for the past four years.
Dr. Fishman is an accomplished speaker and educator in nutrition and medicine. A current focus is the epidemic scope and nature of chronic infections and inflammatory consequences of tick-borne illnesses, including the Persistent Lyme Disease Complex.
