Conference Overview

The International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society (ILADS) Annual Scientific Virtual conference is designed to educate and inform you about the latest scientific advancements to improve diagnosis and treatment of tick-borne diseases. At this year’s event, ILADS brings world class speakers together to discuss the intersection of Big Data and One Health. The information provided will empower you to provide the best care possible for patients using cutting-edge research and Big Data to back up your decisions. Our focus will be on the intersection of information related to COVID and tick-borne diseases, neuropsychiatric implications of tick-borne diseases, and emerging treatments and clinical pearls.

"One Health is a collaborative, multisectoral, and trans-disciplinary approach - working at local, regional, national, and global levels - to achieve optimal health and well-being outcomes recognizing the interconnections between people, animals, plants and their shared environment."

~ One Health Commission

Because this is a virtual conference, talks will be limited to approximately 18 minutes each for a total of four hours per day. The scientific talks will be pre-recorded so that speakers may answer questions in real-time during the conference. There will be chat rooms outside of the main conference room to facilitate informal discussions with other registrants. Scientific posters will also be available for viewing during the conference and a poster pitch competition will be held to select the best poster submission.

2020 ILADS Annual Scientific Virtual Conference

ONE HEALTH LYME – The intersection of Lyme and COVID

The Fundamentals of Lyme and Tick-Borne Diseases -Thursday, September 10, 2020

Lyme Fundamentals is devoted to reviewing the basics of the complexities of appropriately diagnosing and treating tick-borne disease patients. This track is meant to be the first stepping stone to becoming a Lyme expert, and ample time will be provided for registrant questions.

Upon successful completion of the Lyme Fundamentals course, participants may move on to the second step of becoming a Lyme expert: our Physician Training Program. In this program, participants shadow a seasoned ILADEF-designated expert in her/his office for one to two weeks, during which the clinician observes firsthand how doctors come up with their diagnosis and treatment plan. Additionally, clinicians observe how to handle follow-up appointments and all their complexities. There is a grant available upon successful completion of this shadowing for qualified participants.

  • Explain the role of ancillary testing and imaging in the diagnosis of Lyme Borreliosis.
  • Discuss evidence-based treatment recommendations for managing patients with tick bites, erythema migrans, and persistent disease, and understand Jarrisch-Herxheimer reactions and treatment flairs.

2020 ILADS Annual Scientific Virtual Conference

ONE HEALTH LYME – The intersection of Lyme and COVID

Thursday-Sunday | September 10-13, 2020

Save the date!  The 21st Annual International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society (ILADS) Scientific Conference will be taking place virtually on September 10-13, 2020.  With the new virtual format, ILADS is expecting to reach an entirely new global audience.

This four-day virtual conference is the premier educational event for physicians and medical professionals who have an interest in diagnosing and treating Lyme and associated tick-borne diseases. The ILADS Annual Scientific Conference is the event where innovative medicine, technology and cutting- edge research come together in the fight against Lyme and associated diseases.  Doctors and medical professionals come to this event to learn about emerging treatments and strategies to help diagnose and treat tick-borne illnesses in their everyday clinical practices.

With the anticipation of new global attendees, exhibitors will not want to miss the opportunity to network and promote their products with these medical professionals.   Virtual exhibitor sponsorship investments will range from $2,000 to $6,500.

Sponsorships are a great way for your organization to obtain more exposure to conference attendees.  Please view the documents below for sponsorship details. In addition to these packages, a la carte sponsorship opportunities are available.  Electronic gift cards for coffee breaks, annual webinar series or poster award presentations are just a few examples of what a la carte sponsorships we have available.

Please contact Scott Kersh, Conference Manager, at 214-207-8239 for more details and to secure your sponsorship now.

Neil L. Spector Humanity Award

2020 ILADS Annual Scientific Virtual Conference

ONE HEALTH LYME – The intersection of Lyme and COVID

Thursday-Sunday | September 10-13, 2020
Photo of Neil Spector, MD

ILADS will present an award in memory of Dr. Neil L. Spector at this year’s Annual Scientific Conference. Dr. Spector, who passed away on June 14, was a hero to the Lyme community for his contributions in advancing research on tick-borne diseases. "Neil was a highly respected scientific colleague, a caring physician, and a fearless advocate for patients suffering from chronic Lyme disease" says Dr. Garth Ehrlich, president of ILADEF.

In addition to his advocacy work for Lyme disease, Dr. Spector was also a nationally recognized leader in breast cancer research, as well as an author. He documented his near-death struggle with Lyme disease in his book “Gone in a Heartbeat: A Physician’s Search for True Healing.” His passing is a great loss to the medical community.

The lectureship will be awarded at the ILADS 2020 Fall Conference on Saturday, September 12. Help support medical education and research of Lyme and other tick-borne diseases by contributing to ILADEF in Neil’s name. Tax deductible donations can be made at www.ILADEF.org.
